US DoT approves new Virgin route

VIRGIN Atlantic has been given the go-ahead to start daily Heathrow-Chicago flights on November 1 after overcoming United Airlines objections.

A Virgin spokesman claimed United had urged the US Department of Transportation to block the application for slots at O’Hare, on the grounds it was not allowed equivalent slots at UK airports. Virgin will use an Airbus A340 on the route, which seats 255 passengers.
