ABTA is lobbying Balearic Islands tourist chiefs who are considering imposing a tax of up to 7% on package holidays.
Majorca’s newly elected regional government has put forward plans for a 5%-7% tax but it has not yet been approved. ABTA president Steven Freudmann has written to tourist officials in Majorca outlining his opposition to the plan.
