n anto appoints new marketing manager



The Austrian National Tourist Office has appointed Thomas Scherz as its new marketingmanager. Scherz previously worked at ANTO’s head office in Vienna, where he was marketing executive for Eastern Europe. He replaces Manuela Wilhelm, who has left ANTO to move to Spain. Meanwhile, an Austrian workshop is set for September 14 at theMillennium Britannia Mayfair Hotel in London.

The Caribbean Tourism Organisation is to host its annual tourism conference between September 23 and 25. The event will be held at the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel inSanto Domingo, the Dominican Republic.International Federation of Tour Operators president Martin Brackenbury will be among the speakers.



n BTA gives consumer magazine a facelift



The British Tourist Authority has given its monthlyconsumer magazine, In Britain, a makeover. It will focus more on Britishpeople and their way of life, and include features on TV and film locations andmillennium attractions. The BTA said it wants to widen the appeal of the magazine, which has an over-45saudience.
