More than 50 injured in California tour bus crash

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a crash which saw a tour bus flip onto its side near Los Angeles, leaving more than 50 people injured.

Reuters has reported that the crash left the bus, operated by Da Zhen Bus company, on its side on a dirt embankment less than 20 miles from Los Angeles.

The vehicle was carrying Chinese-speaking passengers who were travelling to a local Indian casino.

A total of 55 people were hurt in the crash, including the 50 people on board the bus and five others who were hurt when the bus struck two vehicles.

Five passengers needing immediate care were airlifted to hospital where their conditions were described as stable.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Saul Gomez said the bus went into “lockwheel skid” before it overturned. He said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
