‘Drunk’ airline passenger tasered at Manchester

An airline passenger was arrested by police using a taser after being abusive on a flight and stripping naked on the tarmac at Manchester airport.

The 52-year-old man, who appeared drunk, had been verbally abusing passengers on an easyJet flight from Malta, according to the Manchester Evening News.

He then continued to act bizarrely having left the aircraft, shouting at the airport’s ground staff, allegedly challenging the captain to a fight and urinating against a wall before taking his clothes off.

At this point, a woman who was travelling with him gave him a slap around the face.

Police were called to meet the man and resorted to using a taser to get him to co-operate during the incident on September 26.

A spokesman said: “Police were called to Terminal One arrivals of Manchester airport following reports a man was drunk and being abusive to passengers on a flight from Malta.

“As he left the plane, he took his clothes off and urinated against a wall. A 52-year-old man was dry tasered and arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.”

An easyJet spokesman said: “The safety and security of its passengers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and, like all airlines, disruptive behaviour is taken seriously. The passenger was met by the police as a result of his behaviour.”
