MIDDLE EAST AIRLINES BOOSTS HEATHROW SERVICES TO BEIRUT


Middle East Airlines has increased services between Heathrow and Beirut to nine a week with the addition of four overnight flights. Departing Heathrow at 10.45pm on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, flights arrive in Lebanon at 5.40am the next morning, with improved onward connections to Tehran, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Jeddah, Dhahran and Riyadh.


OPENING DATE NEARS FOR HILTON AND RADISSON IN OMAN


Radisson SAS and Hilton International are set to open new hotels in Oman. The Radisson SAS Muscat will feature 156 rooms and full recreation and business facilities when it opens on September 30, to be followed late in 1999 by the 151-room Salalah Hilton, the first luxury resort hotel in the southern city.


STEPPES EAST WAITS FOR ADVICE BEFORE DECIDING ON YEMEN TOUR


Steppes East is planing to go ahead with its October tour to Yemen, pending advice from the Foreign Office. The 11-dayArabia Felix Yemen trip costs from £1,615.


MOVENPICK HOTEL OPENS NEW SPA AND HEALTH CENTRE


The five-star 230-room Movenpick Hotel in northern Jordan has completed the finishing touches to its new spa and health centre. Operated by TheSanctuary fitness centre, of London’s Covent Garden, the spa will pamper its guests with luxury beauty treatments.


SOMAK HOLIDAYS ADDS FIVE-NIGHT PACKAGES IN NEW DUBAI HOTELS


Somak Holidays has added five-night packages at three of Dubai’s newest luxury hotels in its new brochure. The Al Maha desert resort, which opened in March, is offered with the Jumeirah Beach hotel from £981; the Royal Mirage, due to open early this month, is available from £699; and the lead-in price at the Arabian Tower, scheduled to open in December, is £1,467.


GULF AIR TAKES DELIVERY OF AIRBUS A330-200S


Gulf Air has taken delivery of the first of six Airbus A330-200s and plans to have the aircraft operating on its routes from Heathrow to Bahrain, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Muscat by the end of the summer.


LONGWOOD LAUNCHES DEDICATED EGYPT AND JORDAN BROCHURE
