The Elite consortium would ultimately like to have a “solid core” of 100 agency member locations, according to chief executive Neil Basnett (pictured).
Elite, which held its conference in Edinburgh this weekend, currently has 75 agency locations, mostly on the high street in the Midlands.
Its tie-up with Advantage gives members access to the same commercial deals but it runs as a separate consortium, with members generating an annual turnover of £80 million.
Basnett, who is involved in helping to put together a plan for the future development of Stratford-upon-Avon’s high street, said: “I have to be confident about the high street because communities are better off if there’s a strong high street. Our member feedback is positive. If we could have a solid core of 100 locations that would be a nice number.”
Although Elite has no current recruitment campaign, Basnett said he would be happy to take calls from agents nationwide.
Some Elite members were also expanding, said Basnett, with Journey the World, Carrick Travel and Millington Travel opening new branches.
