Tui Travel backs Dreamliner with new order

Tui Travel has demonstrated confidence in the new generation Boeing 787 Dreamliner by making orders for two additional aircraft.

The value of the pair of 787-8 Dreamliners is £264 million at current list prices.

Tui said it had  purchased the aircraft at a “significant discount” to the list price as a result of various concessions, allowances and support from Boeing.

The deal will bring the group’s fleet of 787s up from 13 to 15 with the  additional aircraft due to be delivered in 2016.

Chief executive Peter Long said: “We have developed our strategy by putting the customer at the centre of everything we do. The 787 Dreamliner is another example where we have led the way by enhancing the customer experience and improving environmental efficiencies, both of which differentiate us from other tour operators.

“The feedback we receive from those who fly on these aircraft is exceptional and this order allows us to continue to deliver the best possible customer holiday experience – from the point customers start dreaming of their holiday until they get home.”

Boeing senior vice president of sales and marketing John Wojick added: “This order is a testament to the value that the Dreamliner has brought to Tui Travel.

“We are proud to work with such a great partner to bring Tui Travel’s passengers a great flying experience.”
