Terrorism scare sees grounding of Air France flight

An Air France aicraft was grounded after a tip off that a terrorist group might be planning to detonate a bomb in midair.


The Paris-bound flight was grounded in Venezuela after French authorities was alerted, the Mail Online reported.


Technicians, bomb experts and a canine team searched the plane at Caracas airport yesterday.


Venezuelan interior minister Miguel Rodriguez Torres said that French authorities passed on information from a credible source.


He refused to comment on the nature of the threat or its origin.


An Air France press office said the carrier was working with the airport and government authorities.


Stranded passengers were preparing to board the flight when they were alerted to the delay. They were given no reason for the hold-up.
