Harriet Green receives top accolade from The Times

Thomas Cook chief executive Harriet Green has been named person of the year by the business staff of The Times newspaper.

Green received the award for her achievement in turning round the travel giant, beating a number of other executives who had demonstrated “outstanding leadership in the corporate world”.

Merlin Entertainments chief executive Nick Varney also appeared on the Times Business People of the Year list.

Since joining Cook in July 2012, Green has overseen a transformation of the business which resulted in the company posting a first operating profit in three years in November.

The award is the latest in a string of accolades for Green and Cook, including the Listed Company Turnaround award at the Institute for Turnaround Awards and the Leader of the Year award at the National Business Awards.
