EasyJet poised to reveal rise in passenger numbers

EasyJet is expected to confirm increased carryings of almost 4.4 million in December.

This would represent a rise of more than 3% on the same month in 2012.

On the rolling 12-month basis, the budget airline is likely to have carried about 61 million passengers in the past year, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Amsterdam is believed to have been the top destination, followed by Geneva as a gateway to ski resorts. Other top ten destinations are expected to include Barcelona, Berlin and Nice.

EasyJet declined to comment on the figures ahead of a formal announcement.

Rival Ryanair handled a record 5 million passengers last month, taking the annual figure up to 81 million – 2% up on 2012.
