Gavin Halliday has moved from British Airways to take over as managing director of travel rewards company Avios.
He replaces Andrew Swaffield following the announcement of his move to Monarch Airlines, which he joins in April.
Halliday has worked in sales, marketing and general management roles for BA in Europe, Asia and Latin America, most recently as area general manager Europe & Africa.
The appointment takes place with immediate effect, Avios said.
Halliday reports to Robert Boyle, strategy director at Avios and BA parent company International Airlines Group, who said: “I am delighted to welcome Gavin as managing director, Avios. He is a very talented leader, with the right skills and experience to take the Avios business forward.”
Halliday said: “I am energised by the opportunities open to Avios, both in terms of global market expansion; working with key strategic partners and offering members great value travel rewards.
“It’s an exciting time for the business and I will be focussed on working with the leadership team to cement Avios’s position as the leading global travel rewards company.”
