Feefo admits April Fool – and plans charity walk instead

Feefo has owned up to its April Fool story about a fundraising naked cycle ride – and instead revealed genuine plans for a 6km walk in aid of Just A Drop.

The authenticated online review service fooled readers yesterday, April 1, with news its two bosses had agreed to strip for a tandem cycle challenge from Feefo’s Petersfield offices to Portsmouth to raise money for water charity Just A Drop.

Managing director Andrew Mabbutt said he hoped the story had at the very least increased awareness of Just A Drop, for which the company has in fact organised a charity walk on May 1.

The Feefo team will walk 6km carrying a jerry can of water each – the average distance women and children walk to find water in remote parts of the world – from its offices around the surrounding heath and lake in Petersfield.

Mabbutt said: “We hope the ugly prospect of a Petersfield to Portsmouth naked bicycle ride has raised awareness for Just A Drop, and the genuine fundraising event that Feefo will be holding.

“I’m sure this news may disappoint some people, but the cause is still where the emphasis needs to be. Jokes aside, the urgent need for clean, safe water in parts of the world in which Just A Drop operates is overwhelming.”
