Flights have been cancelled ahead of a strike by airport workers at Milan’s two airports on Friday.

Baggage handlers are reported to be planning the walkout between 1pm and 5pm local time at both Malpensa and Linate airports.

EasyJet warned in a posting to passengers on its website: “This will affect flights to and from the Milan airports and unfortunately as a consequence of this we have taken an early decision to cancel a number of flights to allow you to make alternative travel plans during the holiday period.”

The airline added: “We also strongly advise you that if you wish to travel and want to rebook your easyJet flights – you should avoid rebooking flights on the same day as there is some likelihood of further disruption that could cause further cancellations.”

A second wave of strike action is planned between the same times on May 4.
