Backchat has learned that one such rigger contemplated this idyllic image for so long he could resist no more – and proceded to book an £11,000 holiday at 3am.
British Airways Holidays, which now takes bookings around the clock, was the recipient of the desperate call from a rig in the icy North Sea.
After taking advice on where to go, the rigger plumped for a luxury holiday in Barbados.
“This goes to show how valuable it can be having a 24hr booking service,” said a BAH spokeswoman.
It also goes to show that oil riggers earn a stack load of cash.
