Updated 11.29am, June 10: Flights at the airport are resuming. The Pakistani Taliban say they carried out both attacks.

An attack on the security force academy at Karachi airport has been reported a day after a terrorist assault on one of the terminals.

Jinnah international airport has been closed again until further notice, according to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Several flights were turned back – one shortly before it was due to land – as they were en route to Karachi, local media reports say.

The Taliban gun and bomb attack on the airport’s cargo terminal late on Sunday night left at least 38 dead, including the attackers.

The death toll from the airport raid rose sharply overnight after nine more bodies were discovered, seven of them in a cold storage facility.
