Airport disruption expected due to Border Force day of action

Passengers face possible disruption due to a day of action by UK Border Force staff tomorrow (Thursday).

This may affect the time it takes to cross the UK border at all UK airports.

EasyJet warned of potential disruption to normal service from 6pm today until midday on Friday due to Border Force workers’ shift patterns.

The airline urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.

“Passengers who qualify to use the ePassport gates are encouraged to do so wherever possible,” the carrier said.

The alert came after easyJet announced three new routes from Scotland and the first flights to Iceland from Northern Ireland.

The airline is to start a year-round Edinburgh-Funchal service from February 3, winter weekly Aberdeen-Geneva flights from December 13 and a year-round Glasgow-Marrakech link twice a week from October 29.

Twice weekly flights will start from Belfast international airport to Reykjavik on December 12 with 30,000 carryings expected in the first 12 months of operation. Fares lead in at £31.99 one-way.
