A NATIONAL ballot will be held to elect three travel agents onto the new ABTA board.
The association’s Travel Agents’ Council said it wanted to ensure the election process was as democratic as possible.
It also decided that each of the 11 regions will have just one place on the Council of Regions, despite Greater London, northwest and Midland regions believing they should have two places.
TAC chairman Stephen Bath said:”This was agreed by all at TAC. Even representatives from those regions did not object.”
He added the chairman and vice-chairman of the council should have an automatic place on the new board and the three remaining places for independent agents decided by national elections.
Meanwhile, subscriptions for membership of ABTA’s Travel Agent Bond Replacement Scheme have been reduced by £50 to £200.
