British man and two children killed in Croatia crash

A British man and two children were killed after their car collided head on with a lorry in Croatia.

The driver of the BMW, a 37-year-old man, and the two children died in the incident in Slano, north of Dubrovnik on Thursday morning.

A woman and a third child were being treated in a local hospital.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed the death of three British nationals and said it was providing consular assistance.

A police spokeswoman said they were all British nationals in a car with UK number plates. Their names have not yet been released and family members were last night being informed, The Times reported.

The driver of the truck, a 46-year-old from Dubrovnik, was uninjured.

The crash happened on the D-8 road on the Dubrovnik Riviera in the south of Croatia. The road was closed to allow an investigation to take place.
