Virgin Holidays praises paperless office tech for £10k annual savings

Virgin Holidays claims to have cut material costs of around £10,000 a year with the use of new technology to create a ‘paperless’ office.

The operator has deployed digital transaction management and signature technology from specialist DocuSign in its purchasing and human resources departments.

This has resulted in the processing of purchasing contracts being cut from two hours down to less than 10 minutes.

The HR department reduced the time to signature from two weeks to two days, significantly easing the process of hiring staff at shops.

The reduction of signing times meant the business could meet short deadlines for hiring and bringing on new talent faster.

The Human Resources department is now examining expansion of DocuSign across other areas, with the learning and development department next on its priority list.

The operator’s human resources business partner Claire Willoughby said: “Our aim in working with DocuSign was to create a paperless office. We’ve achieved much more.

“Signing times are down hugely both internally and externally, admin time has been reduced massively, and we’ve saved around £10,000 per year in materials costs alone.”
