Ryanair and easyJet report July passenger increases

Ryanair saw July passenger numbers rise by 4% to 9.15 million on the back of a strategy to improve customer service.

The low fares airline’s passenger load factor was up by three percentage points to 91%.

Chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said: “Ryanair traffic grew by 300,000 to 9.15 million customers in July, thanks to our lower fares and our improving customer experience, including our great new website and mobile app, allocated seating, a free second small carry-on bag and PED use on all flights.

“Ryanair continues to deliver so much more than just the lowest fares in every market for our 83 million customers.”

EasyJet started the summer peak with a 7.7% hike in passenger carryings.

Figures for July show that the budget airline flew more than 6.4 million passengers, up from 5.9 million in the same month last year.

The passenger load factor increased by 1.3 percentage points to 92.9%.

The performance resulted in annual carryings rising by 5.9% to 63.8 million in the 12 months to the end of July.
