Former Thomas Cook multimedia director Katherine Gershon has been appointed as the new managing director of Wexas.
She will take over from current boss Steve Allen on October 1. Allen is leaving to take on a new undisclosed role in travel.
Wexas operates in both the Leisure and Corporate travel sectors, with travel brands Wexas Travel, The Luxury Cruise Company, Best Served Scandinavia and Wexas Travel Management. The company also has an office in Bournemouth and a number of homeworkers.
Dr Ian Wilson, founder, owner and chairman of Wexas said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Katherine as our new Managing Director.
“She brings valuable experience from her time working in luxury travel and from the airline world, including time with Abercrombie & Kent, British Midland International (BMI) and Silverjet.
“Wexas has changed significantly under Steve’s leadership over the last decade, and we now have a well-established, upmarket leisure travel business and a strong, service-centric TMC. Steve will be missed and we wish him every success in the future”
Gershon added: “Wexas is well respected within the industry, and enjoys high levels of repeat client and satisfaction ratings. There are fantastic opportunities to grow both Wexas’ Leisure business, especially in tailor-made and luxury, and to further develop the business travel arm. I’m really looking forward to joining in October to lead Wexas at an exciting time.”
Allen said: “I wish Katherine and Wexas well. It’s been a pleasure working with the talented team at Wexas and looking after the many members and clients. The business has certainly evolved over the years and is well positioned to capitalise on many opportunities ahead.”
Wexas has over 55,000 members using its leisure travel service, and over 400 companies and organisations handled by the travel management division. It was founded in 1970 and the business is very focused around delivering high levels of personal service as well as real value.
