n royal caribbean passengers in cable-car crisis



Acable-car breakdown at the Floeya peak near Tromso in Norway left 40 Royal Caribbean International passengers stranded in the air for around 8hrs. The shore-excursion party from the vessel Splendour of the Seas, which included some seven Britons, were finally rescued following a helicopter operation.



n Airtours slashes 30% off mediterranean cruise



Airtours is offering a 30% discount on a cruise out of Palma in Majorca departing on July 17. The lead-in price is now £449 per person, rather than the brochure price of £669. The seven-day cruise on Carousel calls at Malaga, Cadiz, Lisbon, Gibraltar and Cartagena.



n Fred olsen teams up with kodak on survey



Fred Olsen Cruise Lines is carrying out a survey of its passengers in partnership with Kodak and a group of photographers. The move is intended to gather information about the cruiseline’s passengers and their lifestyles. Customers who complete a questionnaire will receive £100 worth of vouchers for a family photo-session.



n Fjord Line expands children’s area on jupiter



Ferry operator Fjord Line has revamped and enlarged the children’s area on its ship Jupiter, which sails between Newcastle and Bergen in Norway. The new Club Active is a supervised play area for children over four years old. Staff will be able to contact parents over the public-address system if they are needed in the area.
