Rzymowska loses Universal post

Universal Studios Escape’s Jo Rzymowska and two of her colleagues have been made redundant.

The move follows Universal’s decision to manage all its European trade and consumer marketing from its Orlando headquarters.

Rzymowska, the director of sales and marketing Europe who was instrumental in setting up the UKoffice in London 18 months ago, has left the company along with manager European marketing Alasdair Farrimond and office manager Sonja Petch.

Rzymowska said she was very disappointed. “We feel we have made great inroads and have built strong relationships with all our customers. We have had great feedback and great results.”

One operator, who did not want to be named, said: “How is Universal going to fair in the future without the local knowledge of the UK market?

“Jo and the rest of the marketing team really understood the marketplace.”

Vice-president travel industry sales Bruce Ream praised the work of the marketing team. “Jo, Alasdair and Sonja’s dedicated efforts have dramatically increased the awareness of our product throughout Europe.”

He stressed that the company would carry on supporting the UK trade.

The three-strong sales team headed by David McKee will continue to be based at The Ark in London.
