Emirates Group leisure accommodation wholesaler Yalago has recorded a 50% increase in hotel bookings from UK travellers UK so far this year.
Thailand is the top-booked destination across all source markets for 2023, amid a resurgence in travel to southeast Asia, according to the company.
Indonesia and Singapore are also trending, whilst the UAE continues to grow in popularity.
The top ten most popular travel destinations for hotel bookings are Thailand, UAE, Spain, Indonesia, US, Italy, Singapore, Egypt, Turkey and France.
Historically driven by the UK market, the source market mix of the Dubai-based leisure wholesaler has expanded further in 2023 to a more global presence.
Yalago has also seen strong growth from travellers from Spain, India, the US and Italy, helped by its claimed market-leading accommodation rates.
Former dnata Travel Group head of trade partnerships Colin Currie joined sister company Yalago in March to take on a newly created role as head of retail for the UK and Scandinavia
General manager Astrid Kastberg said: “The UK represents one of Yalago’s fastest growing source markets, whilst we continue to witness growth in bookings from travellers across the globe.
“We are in the process of establishing our Yalago retail team internationally with an initial focus on the UK and plans to expand further into other markets to grow our in-market presence and enhance our local touch.”
She added: ”Emirates’ recent announcement of codesharing agreements with United Airlines and Air Canada has clearly contributed to the increase of demand between the Americas and the Middle East and Indian Ocean.
