Briton found dead between tourist areas of Bali

A British man living on the Indonesian island of Bali been found dead with his hands tied and throat cut.


Robert Kelvin Ellis, 60, was found in a ditch near a paddy field between the tourist areas of Ubud and Kuta.


Police in Bali say he had been living on the island for some time, the BBC reported.


Mr Ellis had been living in the Sanur area of Bali, on the south coast of the island, and his Indonesian wife had reported him missing.


Ida Bagus Putu Alit, head of forensics at Bali’s Sanglah Hospital, told the AFP press agency the man suffered “three gashes on the neck” that were caused by a “sharp weapon”.


Detective Wisnu Wardanahe said the body had been covered with plastic and bed quilts.


A spokesman at the British embassy in Jakarta said: “We were notified of the death of a British national in Bali.”
