Thomas Cook makes more eastern inroads


Thomas Cook has expanded the choice of holidays in Southeast Asia in the second edition of its Signature Worldwide Faraway Collection.



It has added hotels; tall-ship cruises from Thailand; a cruise from Hong Kong to China and Vietnam; and a tour from Singapore to the Toraja Highlands of Indonesia.



Prices to Southeast Asia start at £488 for three nights room-only at the Royal River hotel in Bangkok. The price is based on departures up to June 30 with flights on Thai Airways from Heathrow.



The new hotels featured are the Inter-Continental in Bali, and the Thavorn Beach Village and the Pearl Village in Phuket, Thailand.



There are two tall-ship cruise itineraries from Phuket, both on Clipper Cruises’ Star Flyer. Prices start at £1,025 for a seven-night round-trip cruise ex-Phuket in December.



The new three-day round-trip cruise from Hong Kong is on Star Cruises’ Superstar Leo which calls at Zhanjiang in China and Halong Bay in Vietnam. Prices start at £233 ex- Hong Kong.



The Faraway Collection features a range of escorted tours which start from £79 per person for a two-day Lemanak River Safari in Borneo, Malaysia. A reintroduction to the second edition is a Toraja Highlands Tour which includes three nights in Singapore, four nights in Sulawesi and five nights in Bali. It costs from £1,235 in June, including flights from the UK.
