Germanwings ties up codeshare deal with United

Lufthansa low cost arm Germanwings is to offer codeshare flights as feeders for United Airlines’ transatlantic services from Heathrow, Berlin and Hamburg.

The connections will show a United flight number from in addition to the 4U Germanwings number as part of the codeshare pact.

The collaboration will see joint tickets issued with the long-haul flight and will allow passengers to continue their journey to the US seamlessly.

The codeshare flights can be booked on www.united.com and in travel agencies.

The partnership will also enable Germanwings passengers to earn air miles under United’s MileagePlus loyalty scheme. MileagePlus travellers can exchange the air miles they have earned for flights across the Germanwings route network.

The link between the two airlines is to be cemented further over the coming months to offer passengers further advantages.
