Travel.co.uk looks to ‘shake up’ online travel sales with 2015 launch

A new online travel firm led by former Travel Republic boss Chris Roche claims it will ‘shake up’ online travel sales by focusing on holiday searches rather than flights or hotels.

Travel.co.uk is due to launch next year, with backing from Comtec founder and serial entrepreneur Simon Powell.

Roche will be joined in the venture by Humphrey Sheil, who most recently co-founded e-commerce company Eysys with Powell, and is overseeing the building of the technology platform as chief technical officer.

Roche said: “Technology has made life much easier for customers to find their perfect flight or hotel through businesses like Skyscanner, Momondo and Trivago yet technology has not yet made its impact on holiday searching.  I hope to change that.

“Technically, it’s challenging but we are confident we are building something that will be of real value to both customers and holiday companies.”

“We are all really excited about the launch next year and are looking forward to shaking up the online holiday purchasing process.”
