Giant liner is first past the US post

WHEN Royal Caribbean International chairman Richard Fain said he wanted his new cruise ships to be ‘floating resorts’, he wasn’t kidding.

It is well-known in the trade that the newest addition to the Royal Caribbean fleet, Voyager of the Seas, will be the biggest cruise ship afloat with capacity for 3,100 passengers.

It will feature an ice-skating rink, roller-skating track, rock-climbing wall and nine-hole golf course.

Weddings or renewal-of-vows ceremonies will be catered for in the wedding chapel, while guests will stay in penthouse flats overlooking the ship’s main boutique street.

But even Backchat was surprised to hear that the USmail service has given the ship its own ZIPcode.

When the ship is launched in October, all its mail will go to 33132-2028.
