High winds cause disruption at Leeds Bradford

A British Airways aircraft was forced to abort a landing at Leeds Bradford airport due to strong winds on Monday.

The flight from Heathrow attempted to land around 2.30pm but had to divert to Manchester, where it landed safely, the BBC reported.

An easyJet flight from Geneva was also diverted.

Leeds Bradford is the highest airport in England and experienced wind speeds of about 60mph.

Thousands of passengers had their flights in and out of the airport disrupted by the strong winds.

Coaches were drafted in to transport passengers to alternative airports on one of the busiest days of the year.
