Exodus ad replicates Ridley Scott film poster

Independent tour operator Exodus has produced a press advertisement for the peak seasons sales period which replicates a poster for Ridley Scott’s new biblical blockbuster film.

The operator has used film maker Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings movie as the basis for its ad, which appears in The Guardian newspaper today (December 27) and acts as a precursor for its forthcoming sales campaign #jointheexodus.

Its take on the original film poster shows Exodus staff members playing Egyptian princes Moses and Rameses, dressed in trekking gear and accompanied by the tagline ‘Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s holiday’. The film, in cinemas from yesterday (December 26), stars actors Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton.

The ad is also being promoted through the operator’s social media channels and the operator is encouraging others to share the ad by using the @exodustravels handle and the #exodusmovie hashtag.

Marketing director Jae Hopkins said: “It is not often an epic film comes along which carries the name of the longest running biblical book as well as the longest running adventure travel company, so we decided there was a limit on how much we could poke the gift horse in the mouth on this one. We had a long queue of staff and past clients lining up to audition for our own poster.”
