Leger Holidays has bought Holts Battlefield and History Tours after the tour operator went into administration earlier this month.
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, followed an announcement by Holts’ owner Paul Adams that he could no longer run the company due to ill-health.
Andrew Duncan and Neil Bennett, directors of Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group, were appointed joint administrators of the business on January 9. They sold the business and certain assets to Leger.
Leger has taken over all forward bookings and the 2015 programme. The operator sells battlefield and history tours accompanied by historians and specialist guides as well as bespoke school trips. It has been trading in its offices in Dorking, Surrey for around 40 years.
Leger has not taken over any of Holts’ liabilities other than customer deposits on forward bookings.
Managing director Ian Henry said: “Leger Holidays is a leading escorted tours operator and is the market leader in battlefield tours – the addition of Holts offers the opportunity to expand into historical tours as well as developing its schools battlefield offering.”
Customers are currently being informed of the change in ownership.
Bennett, of Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group, added: “This deal has enabled the ownership of the business and certain assets to transfer to Leger without any disruption – the best outcome for the tour operator as well as its clients.
“Leger is well positioned in the battlefield tour market. It will ensure that all 2015 bookings run smoothly and professionally.”
