JMC drops Eilat from Select after El Al allocation dispute

JMC has dropped Eilat from its upmarket Select brochure after a dispute with scheduled carrier El Al over seat allocation.

The operator said it could only offer charter seats on Monarch to the resort which did not fit with the upmarket product.

JMC group product manager Alex Babic said El Al were demanding too high a price for their seats.

“We offered Monarch flights which we have no problem with but it did not really sit with the four and five-star properties we are featuring,” he said. “We do not carry huge numbers to Eilat but if we can get the flying right, it may well reappear.”

The Select brochure now covers winter 2000/01 with the Canary Island of La Palma and Porto Santo in Madeira featured for the first time.

JMC has also launched its third-edition All-Inclusive with a new property in Trianta in Rhodes. The resort of Arrosim Beach in south Goa has been added to the operator’s third-edition Tropical Shores programme. It has also reduced prices on selected properties.

In its third-edition summersun brochure, new properties in Rhodes and Fuerteventura are included while its pre-bookable late check-out option is available. Prices lead in at £195 per person for seven nights’ self-catering in the Apartments Gran Playa in Majorca.
