Priceright to pursue growth plans despite charter cuts

GREECE specialist Priceright is ploughing ahead with ambitious growth plans despite the increasing struggle for charter seats (Travel Weekly June 21).

The operator, which is part of the Libra group, is hiking capacity from 70,000 to 100,000 in summer 2000 as part of its aim to become the market leader to Greece.

But the halving of its allocation with Caledonian Airways – which has taken capacity on the carrier down to 50,000 – threatened to disrupt the plans.

Libra managing director Andreas Drakou said hasty arrangements with Eurocypria had to be made.

But he warned: “We are okay for 2000 but this could threaten future growth plans as other specialists facing charter cuts look elsewhere for seats.”

Libra sales and marketing manager Kim Wonnacott said Priceright’s relationship with the trade should help achieve the target numbers.

“We are confident that the racking agreements we have in place will help us meet this challenge,” she said.

Early-booking offers include two weeks for the price of one on selected departures, free and reduced child places car hire upgrades, 5% off for over 55s and no single room supplements.

Prices lead in at £199 for seven nights’ self-catering in Zante.

Regional flying has been expanded with new routes from Birmingham to Corfu, Bristol to Corfu and Rhodes, Stansted to Crete and Zante, Newcastle to Zante and East Midlands to Rhodes.
