Travel Choice identifies sites to base direct-sell operation

TRAVEL Choice has identified eight possible sites to base its new direct-sell operation.

The in-house retailer of First Choice is looking at four locations in Scotland, two in Wales and two in Ireland. A decision is expected next month.

New managing director of Travel Choice Direct Chris Browne said the £2m call centre will employ 300 consultants initially, with room for further expansion.

“I would be very disappointed if we do not get this up and running by the end of the year in time for the peak January booking season,” she said. “We are analysing the costs and will make a decision in a few weeks about where the call centre’s location.”

She added the aim is for 20% of First Choice business to be direct in three years.

The Internet and on-line bookings will also feature heavily in the development of Travel Choice Direct, added Browne.

Browne was previously MD of Carlson Worldchoice.
