Many of the travel insurance policies being sold proved inadequate to compensate insured persons following the recent Heathrow power failure at Terminals Three and Four.
Because the delays were caused by a power failure and not industrial action, or adverse weather, many policy holders will not be covered.
Over 20,000 people were affected and if the policies purchased are not reimbursing them following the delays experienced the travellers will be left to sort out claims with the airlines.
This incident stresses the value of the policy, and not the lowest cost, of being greater benefit.
The travel industry has a duty to provide the best cover not the lowest buy-in price.
