The first flight by Scandinavian low-cost carrier Norwegian has taken off from Birmingham airport.
The service to Madrid started yesterday and will run three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays,
This will be followed today by the launch of flights to Malaga on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Barcelona will be added on June 1 with departures on Mondays and Fridays.
The airport’s chief operating officer, David Winstanley, said: “Madrid marks the first of three new Spanish routes set to be served by Norwegian from Birmingham, a clear indication of the enormous demand that exists for these popular destinations, which also includes Malaga and Barcelona.”
