Heathrow reports record September passenger total

Heathrow has reported its busiest ever start to autumn with a record total of almost 7.3 million passengers in September.

September 2023 was the first time in the airport’s history to surpass seven million passengers, 2024 topped this by more than 200,000.

Last month also rounded off a record summer, with more than 30 million passengers travelling during June to September.

The busiest arrivals day ever was recorded on September 2 as more than 140,500 passengers landed at Heathrow.

Heathrow chief executive Thomas Woldbye said: “We are closing out our super summer on a high, with over 30 million passengers passing through Heathrow’s doors in the last four months.”

British Airways will resume flights to Georgia’s capital Tbilisi in summer 2025 after more than a decade’s hiatus.

The airline will also operate more than 400 direct flights a week to North America next summer across 26 cities.
