RITZ Carlton is planning to boost its portfolio of 36 hotels worldwide with the openingof 11 new hotels.
The Atlanta-based company will open its Egyptian property at Sharm El Sheik in autumn 1999 on the Southern Sinai Peninsula overlooking the Red Sea. The hotel, owned by Raja Travel and Hotels of Cairo, is the first Ritz-Carlton in Africa.
March 2000 sees the opening of properties in New Orleans and Jamaica.
A spokesman said: “With Rose Hall in Jamaica due to open, the UK market is becoming ever more important to Ritz Carlton.
“For this property we anticipate that UK business will be particularly crucial and we hope to raise our reservations percentage to 20%.”
In mid 2000, the company moves into Germany with the opening of the Wolfsburg Ritz-Carlton and in late 2000 opens up its Cayman Islands property, its Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Residences in Washington in the city’s west end and its property in Mexico’s Los Cabos.
In 2001, the hotel is planning further expansion with properties opening in Houston, Sarasota in Florida, New York and Naples.
