Flight Centre UK appoints new general manager

Flight Centre UK has appointed Joe Beevis as its new general manager.

He will take over from Lucy Clifton, who is moving into a senior role within Flight Centre Travel Group’s global learning and development team.

The company said Beevis, who takes up the role on January 2, would be “integral to the planning of Flight Centre UK’s growth strategy” which aims to increase the brand’s high street retail presence.

Additionally, he will be tasked with growing sales in the agency’s luxury, round-the-world and groups teams, and expanding Flight Centre’s business travel division.

Beevis joined Flight Centre 15 years ago as a retail consultant in a central London store before progressing to managerial roles through Flight Centre’s managerial fast-track scheme.

He has worked across leisure, corporate, and supply, with roles in Flight Centre’s business travel division as general manager pre-pandemic. Most recently, he was general manager of the corporate land supply division.

Beevis said: “What an honour to be selected to take over and build on all of Lucy’s and her team’s hard work over the last few years.

“The importance of travel agents is becoming more and more apparent to travellers. As we further Lucy’s vision for the resurgence of the high street travel agency and growth of our business travel and specialist teams, I’m excited to take the lead on expanding the business.”

Clifton said: “There couldn’t be a better person for the role than Joe. I have every faith in his ability to keep growing Flight Centre UK and I’m looking forward to my new role, where I’ll focus on the professional development and progression of our experts.”
