Air India has insisted that there is “absolutely no truth” in reports that a lizard was found in an in-flight meal on a Delhi to London flight.
The denial follows the publication of a picture posted on Twitter which purportedly shows the reptile underneath a bun on a meal tray.
It is not clear from the photo if the creature is dead or alive.
The alleged incident took place when the flight attendants were serving lunch during the flight on Thursday, the Times of India reported.
Spot the lizard? AirIndia Delhi- London staff didn’t – served a lizard to a passenger on board. Disgusting! @ibnlivepic.twitter.com/RdmTFpd4IW

But the airline said on Saturday: “Air India has investigated the ‘incident’ and has found it to be false and baseless.
“No such complaint by any passenger of the flight has been received on board the flight or at the Air India office in London.”
An unnamed airline official said: “It is clearly a hoax. This all started with a picture appearing on Twitter. We are investigating the matter, as to who has placed the picture, and what is the claim of that person.”
