G Adventures and Travel Weekly are searching for responsible travel agents in a competition supporting sustainable tourism.
The winner will be appointed Responsible Travel Ambassador and sent on assignment to Peru to experience G Adventures’ Inca Discovery – Lares tour. The eight-day trip from Lima to Cusco takes in the road less travelled to Machu Picchu, known as the Lares Trek. The three-day hike is an alternative to the classic Inca Trail.
On the trip, travellers can experience projects established by Planeterra, a foundation set up by G Adventures to support sustainable travel and livelihoods in local communities.
Sites visited include two new projects: a community-owned campsite where travellers stay, and the Planeterra-supported Parwa community restaurant in Huchuy Qosqo, an indigenous village in the Sacred Valley.
How to enter
To be in with a chance of winning, submit 200 words on why you would like to be Responsible Tourism Ambassador by September 10. The best five will be listed in Travel Weekly and announced at the Travel Weekly Northern Ball on September 17.
Finalists will be invited to a judging day at G Adventures’ offices and the winner selected by representatives from the operator and Travel Weekly.
The trip to Peru can be taken on any available date in November or December this year.
