The Savoy Group has pulled its properties out of The Leading Hotels of the World consortium.
The Berkeley, Claridge’s, The Connaught, The Savoy and The Lygon Arms will now be promoted by the Savoy Group after the upmarket hotel group decided to expand on its own.
It will launch its own centralised reservations system ready for agent bookings by autumn 2000.
Savoy director of marketing and sales Geraldine McKenna said: “We are now in a position to continue to strengthen our own brand equity and exploit the numerous opportunities that electronic distribution provides.”
A Leading Hotels spokeswoman said : “It’s sad when certain hotels pull out but we’ve had great success with them.”
Savoy changed its proprietary reservations code on the global distribution system from LW to its own code VY last October.
