Peak summer traffic soared at Ryanair with August passenger numbers up by 10% to a record 10.4 million.

The budget carrier’s load factor also increased by two percentage points to 95% over the same month last year.

The August numbers mean that the budget carrier’s annual carryings are up by 15% to 96.3 million.

Chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs, said: “These record monthly numbers and load factors are due to our lower fares, our stronger forward bookings and the continuing success of our ‘Always Getting Better’ customer experience programme, which continues to deliver stronger than expected traffic and load factors on our biggest ever summer schedule.

“Ryanair customers can look forward to more service enhancements in the autumn, as we continue year two of our Always Getting Better programme, which include our new car hire service, a new website, new app, new cabin interiors, new crew uniforms, and improved inflight menus, as Ryanair continues to deliver so much more than just the lowest fares in Europe.”
