The results of a nationwide survey into the travel habits of the over-50s will be presented at next month’s Abta Travel Convention in Greece.
The poll is being conducted by travel review and advise site Silver Travel Advisor, which has more than 40,000 members.
The company says mature travellers are going further and more often than any generation before them.
Founder and managing director, Debbie Marshall, is due to present the findings, including how often over-50s travel, who they go with, where they holiday, the types of holiday choices taken, planning and booking choices.
She said: “Around 80% of the nation’s wealth held by the over 50’s, which gives them incredible spending power and holidays and travel come high up on their wish list.
“Reviews from mature travellers on www.silvertraveladvisor.com include travel reports from all corners of the globe, written by back-packing and gap-year pensioners, single older travellers or empty nesting couples visiting places that were often inaccessible in their youth, or when time, family commitments and money prohibited more adventurous travel.”
