Yahoo’s Airey replaces Symon on Thomas Cook board

Yahoo’s Europe, Middle East and Africa senior vice president Dawn Airey has been appointed as a senior independent director of Thomas Cook to replace Carl Symon.

Former Channel 5 chief executive Airey, who starts her new role today (Thursday) was serving as non-executive director.

She has also been appointed as a member of the group’s audit committee.

Symon, a former chief executive of IBM UK, announced in June his decision to leave the FTSE 250 group at the end of its financial year.

Group chairman, Frank Meysman, said at the time of the announcement: “I would sincerely like to thank Carl Symon for his wisdom, support and contribution as a board member and as senior independent director.

“I am delighted that Dawn Airey has agreed to become senior independent director as of October 1 and [chief executive] Peter Fankhauser and I are very much looking forward to working with her.”
