On-line launch poses direct-booking threat


A NEW Internet site offering booking and ticketing advice for all the UK’s ferry and transport operators has been unveiled by Emap Online.



The site boasts it offers 700,000 ways to get in and out of the UK without using a aircraft. It is in the form of a timetable that covers every possible route to France, Belgium, the Scottish Isles, the Channel Islands, Ireland and the Isle of Wight.



Consumers log on to the site, which is part of Emap Online’s A2bTravel.com portfolio, choose the trip they wish to take and will then be told to ring the site’s own call centre which will sort out the ticketing.



The site also includes deals to European destinations, travel tools such as a currency converter and a three-day forecast for anywhere in Europe and the rest of the world if you are travelling on.
