Drunk passenger jailed after abusing Emirates crew

A passenger on an Emirates flight has been jailed for drunken abuse of a female cabin crew member.

Jasbir Singh Bharaj was described by another member of the cabin crew as the worst passenger he had ever encountered.

Bharaj, from Leicester, caused £2,500-worth of damage to in-flight entertainment and bit a police officer who arrested him, Birmingham crown court heard.

He was sentenced to 11 months in prison following the incident on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Birmingham on September 16 last year, the Times reported.

Judge James Burbridge, sentencing, said: “You told a female member of cabin crew that if she were on the ground you would punch her in the face.

“And in a particularly grotesque piece of behaviour you dipped your fingers in your glass of wine and rubbed them on your private parts.

“You shouted ‘fucking Muslims send them back to where they came from and fucking Isis’,” he said.

Bharaj also verbally abused the arresting officers, calling them “white bastards,” it was revealed.

Satvir Aujla, defending, said that Bharaj was ashamed of his actions.
