AVRO is developing its electronic information and booking system Orbit to allow agents to access it using the Internet.
Orbit is an flight-shopping system that gives agents access with a direct connection from their desk into the flight-only operator’s central reservations.
The company is also creating a new back-office system which will herald changes to Orbit including improved functionality, quicker response times and an improved service. The system will launch in a few weeks.
Orbit product manager Sharon Mhende said: “The Internet is a very cost-effective medium as well as being a very robust way of communicating. At the moment external Orbit sites can be subject to bottlenecks, which this should solve.”
Agents must have Internet access and Internet address to communicate with Avro.
